MegaETH Mainnet Launch: What Builders Need to Know

The Web3 world is buzzing today with the official launch of MegaETH mainnet, an ambitious new Ethereum Layer 2 (L2) chain positioned as a real-time blockchain built for extreme throughput and minimal latency. With MegaEth RPC endpoints available from launch, developers can immediately deploy, test, and monitor applications without waiting on infrastructure.

MegaETH went live on February 9, 2026, aiming to upend expectations for what an Ethereum scaling solution can deliver, with speed claims up to 100,000+ transactions per second (TPS) and sub-second responsiveness.

In this post we’ll unpack:

What MegaETH is and why it matters

How MegaETH compares to other L2s

Why builders should take notice now

Practical guidance for developers, including RPC and tooling support from dRPC

What Is MegaETH and Why It’s Turning Heads

MegaETH describes itself as the first real-time blockchain for Ethereum. It prioritises execution speed, near-instant finality, and developer UX without sacrificing security guarantees inherited from Ethereum’s mainnet.

Rather than operating in large, periodic blocks like most chains, MegaETH processes transactions continuously and uses an execution model designed to deliver:

Ultra-low latency: Millisecond-level responsiveness for state updates

High throughput: Over 50,000 TPS observed in tests and theoretical targets exceeding 100,000 TPS

Optimised experience: Developers write familiar Ethereum smart contracts, with Solidity, standard tooling, EVM compatibility

This makes MegaETH more than just a faster rollup. It’s a next-generation application execution environment tailored for builders who need responsiveness similar to traditional web apps but within a secure blockchain context.

MegaETH’s execution-first architecture, designed for predictable performance and builder scalability.

A Milestone Launch and Performance Stress Test

MegaETH’s mainnet debut followed extensive stress testing that pushed its limits under sustained load. Engineers and early partners ran weeks of real-world usage tests that handled billions of onchain transactions and maintained throughput that eclipsed what many blockchains achieve in years.

More than 50 applications were already live on launch day, spanning DeFi, NFTs, games, wallets, and tooling, reflecting a vibrant ecosystem ready to build on top of this high-performance layer.

Interestingly, the network’s native token (MEGA) is not being unlocked immediately. Its later distribution is tied to concrete network performance and usage milestones (such as active applications and stablecoin volume), demonstrating a focus on sustainability over speculation.

Why Developers Should Pay Attention Now

MegaETH’s approach solves several of the most persistent pain points for Web3 dApps:

1. Latency for Interactive Use Cases

Traditional rollups and L1s often have block-focused latency that feels slow for interactive apps like games, DeFi UIs, or live markets. MegaETH’s continuous execution model aims to erase that delay.

2. Throughput for Scale

High TPS means applications can scale without sudden congestion, improving outcomes for:

real-time finance apps

prediction markets

high-frequency trading dApps

immersive user experiences

3. EVM Compatibility

Existing Ethereum tooling, frameworks, wallets, and developer tools work on MegaETH, reducing onboarding friction.

4. Early Access Advantage

Builders who deploy earlier can:

Secure initial user traffic

Influence ecosystem standards

Integrate before network effects solidify elsewhere

Whether you’re building DeFi, gaming, cross-chain apps, or middleware, MegaETH represents a cutting-edge runtime environment that prioritises developer performance.

For developers evaluating the ecosystem, access to reliable MegaEth RPC endpoints is a prerequisite for testing contracts, syncing state, and operating production-grade applications.

Practical Building Blocks: Supported Tooling & Ecosystem

To build effectively on MegaETH today, you need robust infrastructure, especially for testing, querying state, and submitting transactions at high throughput.

RPC Endpoints and Why They Matter

RPC endpoints are critical for reliable communication between your applications and the MegaETH network. They serve as the backbone for state queries, transaction broadcasting, and dApp data access.

For a thorough explanation of how RPC endpoints and nodes work in blockchain development, see What Are RPC Nodes and Endpoints? A Complete Guide.

dRPC Support for MegaETH Builders

dRPC has announced support for free and paid RPC endpoints for MegaETH since its mainnet launch, providing developers with a reliable pipeline for:

sending transactions

querying balances and state

indexing logs

handling high-throughput workloads

Because MegaETH can generate massive bursts of requests, relying on a resilient RPC provider avoids common pitfalls such as stale state, rate limits, and timeouts.

From day one, dRPC provides both free and commercial-grade MegaEth RPC endpoints, allowing developers to start building immediately without running their own infrastructure.

NodeCloud: Managed RPC for MegaETH and 180+ Networks

For many teams, managing RPC infrastructure in-house isn’t feasible, especially for global, frontend-centric traffic. That’s where dRPC’s NodeCloud comes in.

NodeCloud provides:

Managed global RPC access for MegaETH

Multi-region endpoints

Intelligent load balancing

Failover and high availability

…all without you having to operate servers or maintain DevOps rigs.

With NodeCloud, Web3 apps can connect to MegaETH (and 180+ other chains) via production-grade endpoints engineered for uptime and performance.

These MegaEth RPC endpoints are served through dRPC NodeCloud, ensuring low latency, high availability, and consistent performance during early ecosystem growth.

Start with MegaETH RPC via NodeCloud if you want plug-and-play to global infrastructure.

A Comparison in Practice

From the buzzing floors of Token2049 Singapore to late-night conversations with builders, our team gathered a fresh perspective on where infrastructure, tooling, and RPC are heading. Below are seven major insights that tickled our thinking — with commentary from Luke (Partnerships) and Armando (DevRel / Lead Hackathon Ambassador).

If you’ll be in Buenos Aires at Devconnect Argentina, we’d love to catch up and dig deeper into these ideas in person.

Decentralization of infrastructure is front and center again

Michael Morgan (CEO of SwapKit) summed it up: “Nobody cares about decentralization until it does.” Luke emphasized that recent network outages have brought the issue of centralized RPC fragility squarely back into the conversation. Infrastructure must be resilient not just on paper but in real-world failure modes — and end-to-end decentralization (across providers, geographies, governance) is proving essential.

RPC pain is real — especially on Solana

In multiple conversations with dApp founders building on Solana, Armando heard a recurring theme: RPC instability remains a major bottleneck. Timeouts, rate limits, and regional routing inconsistencies plague many teams. The need for ultra-reliable, low-latency RPC across Solana’s nodes is still wide open — and a space we’re watching closely from dRPC’s stack roadmap.

Observability baked into infrastructure

Gone are the days when metrics, tracing, and alerts are afterthoughts. Builders are expecting all layers — RPC, data, caching — to ship with observability built-in by default. That makes tools like NodeHaus far more critical, not optional.

Modular / composable infrastructure continues to win

Instead of prepackaged monoliths, more teams favor modular, interoperable tooling. Swap in or out a cache, tracing layer, or routing module — that flexibility is becoming a default requirement for scaling stacks.

Edge & geo-aware deployments for latency gains

Deploying RPC nodes closer to the user — or routing queries via edge layers — is no longer optional for global applications. Every millisecond counts, and builders are prioritizing low-latency paths above all.

Failover & resilience > raw uptime

Several panels emphasized that surviving partial failures is more meaningful than just “99.99% uptime.” Infrastructure must be able to route, fallback, and absorb cascading failures without breaking the application layer.

Community & open source are catalysts, not just ideals

The pushback against opaque “infra-as-a-service” models was sharp. Many builders prefer open, extensible tooling over black-box APIs. That momentum aligns directly with dRPC’s choice to open source NodeCore, as well as collaborate with community contributors.

We’ve recently updated the domain used for RPC queries from dRPC. The change is now live, and anyone using links generated from our web UI will already be using the new domain.

What Changed

Old domain: https://lb.drpc.org/ethereum/xxx

New domain: https://lb.drpc.live/ethereum/xxx

Benefits of the New Domain for Faster RPC Queries

The new domain is configured differently and, in some cases, provides up to 50% lower latency for RPC queries. Clients switching to the new domain can expect faster response times and improved application performance.

Important Notes

The old domain (lb.drpc.org) will continue to work for now, but it will be discontinued in the near future. The soft deadline is the 1st of November.

If you are starting fresh or copying endpoints from the dRPC web UI, your links will automatically point to the new domain (lb.drpc.live).

Next Steps

We encourage all developers and integrators to update any manually saved endpoints to the new domain to take advantage of faster RPC queries.

Grab the new endpoints from the dRPC chainlist.

At dRPC, we’re committed to providing AI-powered RPC infrastructure for dApps and chains, ensuring that your applications remain fast, reliable, and scalable.

Happy building!

In blockchain, who delivers your DeFi data is as important as the data itself. Let that sink in.

Api3 has been redefining what’s possible with first-party oracles and decentralised APIs (dAPIs), bringing source-verified data directly on-chain without intermediaries. But to make this innovation perform at scale—securely, reliably, and in real time—it needs a foundation of world-class infrastructure.

That’s where dRPC comes in. Together, Api3 and dRPC have built a one-of-a-kind collaboration: combining cutting-edge oracle architecture with high-performance, fault-tolerant RPC delivery to serve some of the most demanding applications in DeFi.

Api3: The Source-First Oracle Pioneer

Unlike traditional oracles that pass through middlemen, Api3’s dAPIs connect data providers directly to the blockchain, preserving transparency and trust from source to destination. This design makes DeFi data verifiable, tamper-resistant, and faster to reach the chain—unlocking entirely new opportunities for protocols.

Delivering this model in the fast-moving environment of decentralised finance requires infrastructure that can match its ambition. That’s why Api3 turned to dRPC—not as just another RPC endpoint, but as a strategic partner in ensuring performance, uptime, and scalability for DeFi data.

dRPC: The Infrastructure Engine Behind Api3’s DeFi Data Performance

dRPC operates a distributed, permissioned marketplace of independent node operators, designed for reliability, low latency, and dynamic scalability. The engineering team has decades of combined experience building and running mission-critical infrastructure for both Web2 and Web3 at scale.

For Api3, this translates into:

Near-instant feed delivery for Liquid Staking Tokens, stablecoins, and DeFi-native assets.

Preserved accuracy and freshness of on-chain data that powers collateral ratios, liquidations, and pricing models.

Global fault tolerance to maintain uptime during congestion or network stress.

This isn’t just about speed—it’s about enabling Api3’s model to operate exactly as intended, every block, without compromise.

Powering the OEV Opportunity

With Api3’s source-first approach, data doesn’t just inform smart contracts—it opens new economic possibilities. By delivering verifiable, source-native feeds with high reliability, dRPC enables Api3’s oracles to capture Oracle Extractable Value (OEV) for the benefit of protocols themselves, instead of allowing it to leak to external exploiters.

This transforms the oracle layer from a cost centre into a value generator, making it a net-positive part of the DeFi infrastructure stack.

A Partnership Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts

Api3’s oracle innovation and dRPC’s infrastructure expertise are highly complementary. One pushes the boundaries of what’s possible with on-chain deFi data; the other ensures that vision can operate at scale with speed, accuracy, and resilience.

In decentralised finance, milliseconds can be worth millions. This collaboration ensures those milliseconds work in the protocol’s favour.

Looking Ahead

The next generation of decentralised applications won’t succeed on vision alone—they’ll need infrastructure and data delivery as advanced as the logic they run.

With Api3’s first-party oracle architecture and dRPC’s high-performance, trust-minimised RPC layer, DeFi gains data you can trust, delivered through infrastructure you can depend on.

This partnership is proof that when innovation meets execution, the entire ecosystem moves forward.

Learn More:

In Summary

At dRPC, our mission is to make RPC infrastructure more accessible, transparent, and developer-friendly. That’s why we’re rolling out a major update to our pricing model that makes it easier than ever to predict and control your RPC costs.

20 CU per request – any method, any chain

$6 per 1,000,000 requests

One price for everything

Volume discounts remain in place

What’s Changing?

Traditionally, like most RPC providers, dRPC priced different Ethereum JSON-RPC methods based on the computational resources they consumed — measured in Compute Units (CUs). While accurate from a backend perspective, this made budgeting unpredictable and complex for dApp teams and infrastructure engineers.

Starting June 2, 2025, that complexity is gone. We’re switching to a flat-rate pricing model where all supported methods cost just 20 CUs each — no more per-method variability.

What Does This Mean for You?

This change makes your $6 per 1M requests pricing even more powerful.

Here’s an example of how the new flat rate impacts typical usage:

That’s a 40% savings on complex workloads like
debug_traceTransaction
and
eth_getLogs
.
Why Flat-Rate Pricing Still Works for Power Users

Yes, some simple methods like
eth_blockNumber
or
web3_clientVersion
used to cost fewer CUs than 20. These may technically become slightly “more expensive” in CU terms. But because of our low $6 per million request rate, the actual dollar impact is minimal — and still highly competitive with other leading RPC providers like QuickNode, Ankr, Alchemy, and Chainstack.

Plus, our research into user behavior and request breakdowns shows this update benefits the vast majority of our users, especially those building wallets, explorers, dashboards, and DeFi protocols that rely on a mix of standard and complex methods.

Why We Made This Change

Predictability: Devs shouldn’t need a spreadsheet to calculate RPC costs.

Transparency: No more surprises based on backend-specific pricing logic.

Competitiveness: dRPC continues to deliver top-tier performance at better-than-market rates.

This update is part of our ongoing effort to make RPC infrastructure simple, scalable, and builder-first.

Rollout Timeline

This update will go live on June 2, 2025. If you’re already using dRPC, there’s no action needed on your part — you’ll simply start benefiting from better predictability and potential savings automatically.

Hello from dRPC!

Starting June 1, 2025, we will be updating our Free plan to make it more robust and performant for those who need it most at the beginning of their journey. This change is designed to provide a more stable, fair, and transparent usage experience for all users.

New Free Plan

Monthly Compute Limit:

The Free Tier will include 210 million Compute Units (CU) per 30-day period, resetting every 30 days from the date of registration.

Rate Limiting:

A dynamic rate limitation of approximately 2,100 computational units per second (CUPS) will be applied to ensure fair access during peak periods. This value is several times higher than what most providers offer and covers typical testing needs.

Method Availability:

All methods are available except for
trace
,
debug
, and
filter
, which remain disabled on the Free Tier.

API Key Limit:

Users can create up to 5 API keys under the Free Plan. If you already have more than 5 keys, they will still be active, but you won’t create any more free keys.

Why This Matters

These adjustments aim to:

Maintain Service Sustainability:

Structured usage policies allow us to continue offering robust infrastructure to the developer community at scale.

Ensure Fair Access:

Dynamic rate limiting helps maintain consistent service quality for all users, especially during high-demand periods.

Based on historical usage data, these changes will not affect over 86% of current Free users. Still, we want to make sure you’re fully informed.

If you are in the remaining <14% of Free users, we recommend you upgrade to the Growth Plan at any time to unlock all features, premium infrastructure, and remove all restrictions if your usage grows beyond the limits of the Free Plan.

Tip: Even if you’re on a paid plan, you can still use Free API keys with the same limits — just switch the key type in your Settings.

These changes will take effect automatically on June 1, 2025.

We’re excited to announce that dRPC has deployed full support for Lens Mainnet RPC endpoints. This release enables developers to interact with the Lens ecosystem through our distributed node infrastructure.

About Lens Protocol

Lens Protocol is a high-performance blockchain stack designed specifically for SocialFi applications. The architecture consists of:

Lens Chain: A Layer 2 solution leveraging ZKsync, Avail, and Ethereum

Social Protocol: Modular on-chain primitives for social interactions

Storage Nodes: Decentralized storage with centralized-level performance

As a Layer 2 implementation, Lens delivers significant UX improvements including account abstraction, USD-denominated gas fees, and streamlined authentication flows.

Implementation Details

Our Lens RPC integration provides developers with reliable access to all Lens Protocol functionality through a standardized interface. The endpoints support all major development frameworks including Web3.js, Ethers.js, and Web3.py.
